Part of the nature of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged)” is that casts are encouraged to tweak the show to make it their own. The spots that we particularly wanted to change were first of all, the soap opera references (which none of us knew anything about) and the Othello scene, which traditionally has always been a rap, but rapping Shakespeare was cringe-inducing twenty years ago when the show was first conceived and has NOT improved with age. As such, we made a few edits, which are included below. The Othello scene, which we still were never 100% satisfied with, changed from one weekend to the next , so we’ve included both the “Newscast” version and the “No-thello” version.
