“It Happened One Night” Reader’s and Dessert Theatre – Feb 11th

Blaine Community Theater is proud to present the Lux Radio Theater version of “It Happened One Night”, based on the classic 1934 screwball comedy starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. This evening will be a reader’s theater event, with the cast recreating the 1939 radio broadcast performed by the legendary Lux Radio Theater, with accompanying live music by jazz guitarist Mike Bohnson and vocalist Kira Ann Bradshaw.

Failed newspaperman Peter Warne has just lost his job, but he has a cunning plant to get it back. Heiress-on-the-run Ellie Andrews has just crossed his path on her cross-country escape to elope without getting caught and stopped by her wealthy father. Peter and Ellie make an uneasy alliance–he won’t turn her in so long as she gives him exclusive rights to the story–beginning a whirlwind road trip as the two dodge private detectives and reward seeking lookie-loos.

“It Happened One Night” is presented as a special pre-Valentine’s outing, we will be providing dessert, coffee, and sparkling drinks for the attendees.

There will be two performances to catch on February 11, 2023: an afternoon show at 3 PM and an evening show 1t 7 PM. Performances will be at the Blaine Boating Center located at 235 Marina Drive, Blaine, WA. Pre-purchase admission available online, as well as admission at the door as space allows.

Purchase of admission online will place the purchaser and their guests on a will call list, and they may check in at the door. No physical tickets are issued and no print outs required. Admission will be available at the door in accordance with availability.
