COMMUNITY THEATER DOESN’T EXIST WITHOUT THE COMMUNITY!
We’re looking for a few good hands to join us for a couple of theater projects this summer:
“PIRATES OF PENZANCE” WATER BALLOON SHOW
The second year of a new tradition, we’re helping out Blaine-Birch Bay Parks & Recreation by putting together a water balloon show for Pirate Daze on August 3rd, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Pirate Daze is ran in conjunction with the Blaine Chamber of Commerce’s Drayton Harbor Days, a weekend long maritime event with things to do happening all over the Blaine area the first weekend of August. BBBP&R holds Pirate Daze as a kids-focused activity day at Blaine’s Marine Park, with several events for kids and ending in a large water fight.
For our part, BBBP&R asks us to hold a water balloon show during the event, where we put on several free performances of an abridged version of “The Pirates of Penzance” throughout the day, and have water balloons for sale that the audience can throw at the actors during the show.
We’re still seeking a couple more performers for small roles in the show. You don’t have to be a proficient actor or a proficient singer (anything approaching a quality performance flies out the window as soon as the balloons start flying), just be willing to show up to some of the rehearsals and to be a target for delighted kids tossing water balloons.
“THE COMPLETE WORKS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE (abridged)” STAGE CREW
“The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged)” is less than a month from opening, and its time to find some people to help out behind the scenes. “Complete Works” is a fast-paced comedy that can’t happen without dedicated crew members helping with costumes changes and prop placing throughout the show. We’re also always looking for people who are willing to help source costumes and props, help out with the front-of-house duties (ticket sales, ushering, etc.) and light and sound operators.
